Smith Residence

The Robert & Margaret Smith Residence designed by Ervin Hille & Associates, 1960. Hille grew up in Wisconsin and later moved to Marin County where he set up his residential practice. The house has a handful of design cues more associated with Southern California, and international Modernist buildings, but is right at home in the sunny foothills of San Rafael.

My buyers came to me with a venerable hit list of features after searching for their dream property for a few years. I live for the hunt, and love a good challenge, so we were the perfect match. Landing an architecturally unique home on acreage with room for that dream pool is tough in the Bay Area where our lots are typically around 7000 square feet in densely populated areas, but we did just that. I’m looking forward to seeing this home brought back to life with some state of the art engineering layered in. Congrats G&R - this is just the beginning!
